Blood Donation Camp 2022

 On 13 August 2022, the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh in association with Kantha Bopha Hospital and doctors alliance of Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) organized a blood donation camp. The donation camp was held as part of the Iconic Week celebrations by the Embassy of India Phnom Penh of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) from 08-16 August 2022, culminating in the grand reception to mark the 75th Anniversary of India’s independence.

The AKAM is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of it’s people, culture and achievements.

More than 50 members from Indian Association in Cambodia (IAC), other Indian community members, Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC) volunteers and Cambodian nationals enthusiastically participated and donated blood at the camp. The Director and doctors of Kantha Bopha Hospitals appreciated and thanked the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh for the humanitarian cause..

Ambassador Dr. Devyani Khobragade commended the overwhelming support received from Indian community and Cambodians in collecting large number of blood units to support the work of blood banks in Cambodia. Ambassador thanked Ministry of Health officials, doctors, nurses, and support staff and in particular Dr. BhoomiKumar, CCAHM Cambodia for the support to the donation drive.

Ambassador Dr. Devyani Khobragade noted that the extraordinary effort of the Indian community for blood donation showed their love for their Cambodian brothers and sisters and will go a long way in strengthening India-Cambodia friendship. Ambassador also encouraged people to donate blood at regular intervals stating blood donation is considered one of the best ways of helping the mankind.
