Ambassador Dr. Denyani Uttam Khobragade visited Preah Sihanouk Raja Buddhist University, Battambang

Ambassador Dr. Denyani Uttam Khobragade visited Preah Sihanouk Raja Buddhist University, Battambang on 27 November. Ven. Vy Sovichea, President of the University along with other officials and faculty members warmly welcomed Ambassador and other Embassy officials. During the meeting, President highlighted the history of university which had a modest beginning as Dom Rey Say monastery several decades back. He informed that in addition to Buddhist studies, various other courses including English are being conducted by the university. Ambassador expressed her happiness on her visit to SBU which is the biggest Buddhist University in Battambang and highlighted the age-old cultural and religious relationship between India and Cambodia specially our close linkages of Buddhism. She also informed that soon some Indian experts will be based in Battambang to impart IT training to students and faculties of SBU and other universities. She expressed hope that in future there will be further strengthening of bilateral cooperation in the field of education between India and Cambodia.
