H.E. Ms. Manika Jain paid a farewell call on Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen

H.E. Ms. Manika Jain, Ambassador of India paid a farewell call on Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen in the Peace Palace today.  Prime Minister Hun Sen greatly appreciated Ambassador’s contribution in furthering the bilateral relations between India and Cambodia.  While referring to the age-old historical relations, shared culture and heritage between the two countries, Ambassador Jain touched on the overall bilateral relationship and specifically referred to the important visits and events that have taken place during the last 3 years, including Prime Minister Hun Sen’s bilateral visit to India in January 2018, which has set the path of our future relationship.  She also referred to Agreements/MoUs in various fields signed during her tenure, announcement on increasing the number of QIP projects for Cambodia from 5 to 10 per year, increase in the number of ITEC slots for Cambodian officials from 150 to 200, customised training courses and offer of scholarships to Cambodian students, etc.  She has also conveyed that the announcements made during the Defence Minister’s visit were acted upon with the signing of $ 1.5 million grant Agreement for providing demining equipment to Cambodia.  She appreciated the steps taken by Cambodia under the leadership of Prime Minister Hun Sen in controlling and preventing the COVID-19 infections in Cambodia. 

 

Prime Minister Hun Sen fondly recalled his meetings in the last 39 years with the Indian leadership and the help India extended to Cambodia in the most difficult times.   He also offered condolences to the people, who have lost lives in India due to COVID-19.  He added that India is a country that has the capacity to produce vaccines, medicines, etc., for the whole world and hoped India would continue to help Cambodia in this regard.  He also appreciated the telephone call that he received from the Prime Minister Modi on 10th June, 2020.
