CELEBRATIONS OF GLOBAL ONLINE VESAK POORNIMA/

BUDDHA POORNIMA

The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC) is organizing the Global online Vesak Poornima/Buddha Poornima on May 26, 2021. The main event from Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhgaya and New Delhi, that will commence at 0910 hrs Cambodian time (0740 IST), includes Prayers and chanting of Rathana Sutta for Global Relief from pandemic from Mahabodhi Temple (Bodhgaya), Sacred Garden Mayadevi Temple in Lumbini (Nepal), Sacred tooth relic temple in Kandy (Sri Lanka) and other temples worldwide.

2. Other programs under daylong event on May 26, 2021include:

i. Holy Bodhi Tree, at Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhgaya, India

(0930 hrs to 1030 hrs Cambodian time)

• Manglacharan Chanting for Global Peace and Recovery from Pandemic Effect- live from Bodhgaya and Lumbini, Nepal
• Offering of Chivara to the sacred Buddha Statue inside the Mahabodhi Temple by Chief Monk
• Pushpanjali – offering flowers & reverence to the Vajra Asana – the Diamond Throne- under the Holy Bodhi Tree by Monks and Nuns
• Meditation for the benefit of all sentient beings by Ven Buddhapala Mahatero, President, Mula Sangha of S. Korea

ii. Program from New Delhi 1030 hrs to 1145 hrs (Cambodian time)

• Address by Sh. Kiren Rijiju, Hon. Minister of State for Minority Affairs, Youth and Sports, India & Vice Chairman, Buddha Poornima Diwas National Organising Committee
• Vesak Address by Sh. Prahlad Singh Patel, Hon. Minister of Culture and Tourism, Govt of India & Chairman, Buddha Poornima Diwas National Organising Committee
